BearPodcast 136 – Bear Spirituality with Nard, Ray, James and Archbishop Mike

Download MP3 Audio, Duration – 1:00:47, Size – 47.8MB

Panelists: Nard, Ray, James, Archbishop Mike

Warning: This is a unique episode and I just want to make it clear that we are not endorsing or showing any favoritism on any particular belief or faith. We are simply expressing our opinions and experiences on being bears and being spiritual. This is something common to many of us. If you are not comfortable with the topic, you might want to check out the next episode with Freddy Freeman.

We talked about our coming out experiences, spiritual persecution, “conversion therapy”, and our experiences in being gay in the community.

Spirituality is common to the bear community. It doesn’t matter if you are Christian, Islamic, Wiccan, Judaic or any faith/belief. We do not want to exclude anyone.

Please excuse the audio if it’s not too clear because the network connection was not good.

Awesome show! I am kinda spiritual (or even religious) too so this episode made me really interested. Kudos Nard for taking on this topic! It was a treat as well to hear Archbishop Mike talking about his beliefs and experiences. We’ve been chatting for quite some time now about spirituality and Church and it’s just awesome to get to hear him discussing these things.

Anyway, I’m currently living here in Manila and though Nard said that the Catholic Church here is conservative, I believe that it’s kinda changing now. I’m active in the church (church choir member) and I get to hear priests every now and then during their homilies or personal conversations with them citing gay people. They say nothing but positive things, in which I think is a good thing. They might not be admitting it publicly (they are pretty much silent about the matter) but it’s a good sign that they seem to be leaning towards acceptance than rejection.
